A man from Kent died in a crash on Highway 18 outside Auburn late Wednesday, Washington State Patrol said.

The Kent man, 52, was driving west on Highway 18 just east of the Green River bridge around 8 p.m. when he lost control of his Hyundai Sonata and came to a stop facing the wrong way, WSP said. Then a truck traveling behind him in the same lane struck his vehicle, sending the Hyundai into the left-side guardrail.

The truck, which had a trailer, hit the barriers on the left and right sides of the road. Both vehicles came to rest on the left shoulder and in the roadway, WSP said.

The truck’s 40-year-old male driver and 21-year-old male passenger were taken to Auburn Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions were not known Thursday morning.
