A weekend celebration of birding lands in Sarnia later this month.
The Ontario Field Ornithologists , a provincial birding organization formed in 1982, will hold its convention in the city Sept. 19 to the 21, with field trips to sites around the region and evening events at the Dante Club.

“This area is a gem for birders, and the timing couldn’t be better to experience its full richness during fall migration,” group president Jeff Skevington said in a release.
The convention is held every other year in Leamington because nearby Point Pelee “is the burning hot spot” for birding but moves to a different location in the off years, said convention director Sue Suess.
