The union representing thousands of B.C. government workers said Thursday it is escalating job action.
The B.C. General Employees’ Union says there is no indication that the provincial government is willing to return to the table with an improved offer so picket lines have expanded to include nearly 90 workers at the Ministry of Finance at 900 Howe Street in downtown Vancouver.
Union president Paul Finch will join striking workers on the picket line in Vancouver between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
It’s the third day of job action by the union after a strike deadline expired on Tuesday morning.
The union is seeking improved wages. The union’s proposal, tabled the week of June 23, was for a two-year deal at four per cent in the first year and 4.25 per cent in the second year. It has not sa
