A family who had paid to be seated together was left stunned when one of their seats was given away so another family could all sit together.

The original poster (OP), user gamenstuffenuf, took to Reddit to recount the incident, which took place on a recent United Airlines flight from Orlando to Washington .

According to his post, they had booked seats months in advance for their family of four and paid extra to sit together.

However, upon boarding, they discovered one of their assigned seats had been reassigned so another family could sit together.

"When we got on the plane , we discovered that one of our seats had been given away by [a] gate agent so another family could sit together, breaking my family apart," the OP wrote.
