A heavy police presence was seen in Hollow Water First Nation — roughly 200 km northeast of Winnipeg — on Thursday morning.

Mounties from Powerview and several other detachments responded to the First Nation after responding to a report of a serious incident.

It is believed that multiple people have been killed; however, at this time, there has been no confirmation, and police do note that there is no public safety risk.

Due to the incident, Provincial Road 204 has been closed in both directions south of Black River First Nation.
