So much for all of the backlash surrounding the American Eagle ad featuring Sydney Sweeney and her great jeans, or genes.

Shares of American Eagle Outfitters were up 32% to just over $18 a share at the time this story was published.

The more than $4 per share increase comes after the teen clothing retailer said the frenzy surrounding Sweeney’s ad campaign brought in new customers during its most recent quarter, according to the Associated Press .

Backlash involving the “Sydney Sweeney has good jeans” ad involving the 27-year old actress started when the ad campaign kicked-off this past summer with the use of the word “jeans” as a play on word for “genes.”

But that didn’t matter as American Eagle says new customers flocked to its stores.
