Things are returning to normal in Conception Bay South after a busted water line left the entire town high and dry. The State of Emergency was lifted around suppertime last night.
The Regional Water System in the Goulds supplies water to suburban municipalities, including CBS, but the line burst Tuesday.
St. John’s says water systems are regularly monitored by city staff, who acted quickly to identify the location of the break and repair it.
The city says events such as this are extremely difficult to predict, and in many cases it is not possible to determine a definitive cause. However, aging infrastructure is a growing challenge which can result in incidents such as watermain breaks.
