The RNC are once again warning the public, and parents in particular, about the inherent risks involved in field parties now that the school year is underway.
Police are aware of at least one field party being planned this weekend. The RNC say that is of particular concern because of the ongoing fire ban.
The penalties for those found in violation of the provincial fire ban include fines ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 or jail time.
The RNC encourage parents to speak to their teens about the dangers of attending field parties. Parents should also know where their teens will be, check-in with them regularly, let your teen know they can call anytime for help, and establish a code word to signal that help is needed.
