There was a huge turnout on Wednesday for San Francisco's 11th annual Chinatown Night Out – an event modeled after National Night Out to connect Chinatown residents with local services and police.
At the event, lion dancers performed, groups sang for the crowd, raffle prizes were handed out, and rows of booths introduced visitors to public services and community groups. San Francisco's police, sheriff's and fire departments along with MUNI and more showed up to meet with community members in person.
"Chinatown Night Out brings at least a thousand people out," said Ben Mok with the nonprofit Community Youth Center. "We invite everyone in the Chinatown neighborhood to spend a night, not just with us, but with the community."
