Volunteers and staff members milled about the first floor of the Bozeman area's new emergency shelter Wednesday morning, getting boxes and supplies in the right spot in preparation for the building opening next week.
The Human Resources Development Council is planning to open Homeward Point on Griffin Drive for guests starting Monday evening. The 130-person capacity shelter will replace the current Warming Center, in a former roller skating rink on Wheat Drive.
HRDC bought the land on Griffin Drive in 2018, and first built the Market Place building, which contains the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, Fork and Spoon restaurant and office space. The shelter sits right behind Market Place, and cost about $16.4 million.
