Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson and Chancellor Rachel Reeves have visited an Astley primary school to hail thousands of new nursery places which will save mums and dads up to £7,500 a year.
The duo, flanked by Worsley and Eccles MP Michael Wheeler, were visitors to St Stephen’s CofE Primary School to announce that a total of £370m is to be spent on additional nursery places to go hand in glove with the 30 hours of Government funded childcare which starts this week.
It means that in the North West, 29 school-based nurseries are opening this month, including 11 in Greater Manchester.
