Twenty-six countries have pledged to be part of a "reassurance force" in Ukraine if a peace deal is reached with Russia, French President Emmanuel Macron says.
The plan, aimed at deterring Moscow from ever again attacking its neighbour, was announced after a virtual meeting of world leaders, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The force is a key pillar of the security guarantees a coalition of mainly European countries want to offer to Ukraine if the war ends via a peace deal or a ceasefire.
Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Japan have also been part of the "coalition of the willing" talks.
