WASHINGTON D.C., DC — U.S. Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) took aim at Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during a heated Senate Finance Committee hearing on Thursday, questioning his grasp of the nation’s COVID-19 response and warning of the devastating impact Medicaid cuts could have on rural hospitals.
Warner pressed Kennedy repeatedly on whether he knew how many Americans died from COVID-19 and whether vaccines prevented additional deaths. At one point, Warner expressed disbelief when Kennedy said he didn’t know the number of U.S. fatalities.
