DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A man who allegedly stole a car after threatening a driver at knifepoint was arrested Wedneday night, according to the Durham County Sheriff's Office.

It was just before 10:30 p.m. when deputies were dispatched to a business parking lot on New Millennium Way where an armed carjacking was reported. Due to a swift response, the suspect was found a short time later.

The victim told deputies that they had offered a ride to the suspect, Brandon Maurice Ricks, 36, of Durham, who took out a knife and demanded the victim get out of the car.

The car, an Inifinity SUV was found on Drew Street, approximately 10 miles north.

Deputies took Ricks into custody without incident and charged him in connection to the carjacking and added a drug posession charge. Ricks in now in the
