See a downed power line? Here’s how to stay safe, who to call

HOUSTON – In grade school, you may have learned about a little about electricity, such as you can’t see, smell or taste electricity.

So, when it comes to downed power lines, for your safety, always ASSUME they may be energized.

According to CenterPoint Energy, stay at least 10 feet away from the wire and secure the area to keep children and others away.

Per CenterPoint Energy , if you discover a low or fallen line, do the following:

Consider all wires ENERGIZED and dangerous. Even lines that are de-energized could become energized at any time. Observe the minimum approach distance of 10 feet. A live wire touching the ground can cause electri
