WASHINGTON —
The Powerball jackpot has risen to an astounding $1.7 billion for Saturday’s drawing. The prize money continues to grow after no one won Wednesday night’s drawing.
Saturday’s jackpot is now the third-largest in U.S. lottery history, according to Powerball.
The prize has an estimated one-time cash payment of $770.3 million if the winner chooses not to take annual payments over 29 years, with a 5% increase each year.
Saturday’s Powerball drawing now ties for the longest period a jackpot has gone without a winner, at 42 consecutive drawings.
The last time the Powerball had 42 consecutive drawings was in 2022. The winner of that drawing won a grand total of $2.04 billion, the largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.
The most recent Powerball jackpot winner won $1.33 billion
