According to multiple reports, former Florida baseball standout pitcher Brandon Sproat is set to make his Major League Debut for the New York Mets on Sept. 7 against the Cincinnati Reds .
Sproat, 24, joins the Mets in the midst of a playoff race after going 8-6 with a 4.24 ERA for Triple-A Syracuse this season, with 113 strikeouts with 121 innings pitched. He's expected to start against the Reds on Sept. 7.
A former Pace High standout, Sproat, a hard-throwing righty, played four seasons for the Florida Gators (2020-23). As a redshirt junior in 2023, Sproat helped pitch the Gators to a College World Series, going 8-3 with a 4.66 ERA. He made all 19 of his scheduled starts, firing two complete games and one shutout.
Overall, Sproat finished his Florida career 19-8 with a 4.27 ER
