MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Louisiana State Supreme Court ruled on Sept. 3 that Reginald Brown should not have been fired as Monroe’s interim police chief.
Brown was fired in November 2020 after city officials alleged he lied about when he started an investigation into the Timothy Williams police brutality case.
Williams filed a complaint on July 6, 2020, five months into Brown’s tenure as interim chief, alleging excessive force by Monroe police officers.
A new mayor was elected in Monroe shortly after the complaint was filed, and that new mayor appointed a new interim police chief.
Brown returned to his rank of corporal and was assigned to the detective division with the Monroe Police Department.
