A woman is facing an attempted murder charge after a 72-year-old man was stabbed in his Sparks apartment Monday, Sept. 1, police said.
Officers responded about 4:52 p.m. to the 2300 block of Greyhaven Lane, where they found the man with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for surgery with life-threatening injuries.
Police said the suspect, identified as Makayln West, was found in the area and taken into custody. The investigation found West, believed to be homeless, had been staying at the victim’s apartment and attacked him without warning.
West was booked into the Washoe County Jail on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon, obstructing and a warrant. Additional charges of attempted murder and elder abuse were later added.
