SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- The FDA has approved a new COVID-19 vaccine formula and guidelines for who qualifies to get it.
Anyone 65 and older, and anyone six months to 64 years who has any one of a long list of health conditions which could lead to a bad outcome from COVID. Additionally, anyone who has the vaccine prescribed by a medical provider.
Still, getting a COVID shot right now is not simple, with the CDC panel's recommendations on the COVID shot not coming until mid-September, which often influences insurance coverage.
"With confusing recommendations and confusing guidance from the Federal government, the onus is even more now on the individual and that patient-physician relationship to make these decisions," Dr. Stephen Thomas, Director of the Upstate Global Health Institute.
