PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A husband and wife were killed this morning after troopers say their car crashed into a box truck this morning.

The crash happened around 5:55 a.m. on Highway 13 near Frog Level Road.

The Highway Patrol says that 34-year-old Dustin Myatt, of Snow Hill, was heading south on Highway 13 in a Nissan passenger car when his car crossed into the center turn lane and collided head-on with a box truck driven by 33-year-old Benjamen Johnson, of Farmville.

Johnson was taken to ECU Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Myatt and his wife, 35-year-old Sterling Myatt, who was a passenger, died at the scene.

Troopers say that speed, lane control, and no restraint were the contributing factors to the accident.
