Two Georgia men are behind bars in Williamson County after Franklin Police say they stole more than $9,200 worth of circuit breakers from a local home improvement store.
The men, ages 26 and 23, are charged with Shoplifting-Theft of Property and Organized Retail Crime, police said.
According to Lowe's , the average price of a circuit breaker is $57, but they can range from about $3.78 to as much as $689. The fluctuation in price is due to advanced safety features like AFCI and GFCI protection along with mandatory updates to meet current electrical codes, the store said.
An explainer on some of the circuit breakers also says that special-purpose breakers, such as oil circuit breakers and high-voltage SF6 gas breakers, can cost more due to scarcity.
