GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The City of Gainesville has selected an interim City Manager to begin Oct. 21.

Andrew Pearson has been unanimously selected by the City Commission to be the interim City Manager beginning on Oct. 21.

This comes after Cynthia Curry submitted her resignation letter, setting her final day as Nov. 21, after 4 years in the position.

Curry and Pearson will have a month overlap for training into the position.

In the resignation letter, Curry detailed her accomplishments in the areas of fiscal stewardship, gun violence prevention, public safety, traffic safety, East Gainesville development, downtown development, community investment, civic engagement, and organizational health.
