MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) Every corner of the Magic City seems to be under some sort of construction.

A major project in the southern part of town is seeing some progress.

It started in May when a culvert collapsed, impacting the off ramp from Highway 2 to 83.

The work officially began in late August, when the construction company’s equipment and staffing were available.

Chad Beggs, with the state department of transportation, said the culvert was something they had on their radar to replace, but the failure expedited it.

“We had our bridge engineers come up and take a look at it; they deemed it unsafe to carry traffic, so we had to close the US-2 and 83 ramp, as well as the southbound lane of US-83,” said Beggs.
