The Springfield National Weather Service (NWS) office has announced that its local radar will be out of service through September 9 due to scheduled maintenance.
Crews will be replacing deteriorating panels on the radar dome, along with conducting exterior cleaning and painting. While these upgrades are necessary to maintain long-term functionality, the outage comes at a time when weather activity is picking up.
