'Contained' brush fire in Washington spans 24 acres

WASHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Connecticut Forestry Service and several mutual aid departments are battling a brush fire in Washington, according to a release from the town.

The fire is in the Steep Rock Preserve and spans 24 acres. It is currently contained, the town said.

There will continue to be light to moderate smoke conditions in the surrounding areas until the fire is fully extinguished, the town said.
