OTTAWA — A member of the Canadian Armed Forces deployed in Latvia has been reported missing since Tuesday. The Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces confirmed the situation in a news release, stating that search and investigation efforts are currently in progress.

Warrant Officer George Hohl, a vehicle technician based in Edmonton, was last seen in Ādaži, Latvia. He is part of the aviation battalion serving with the NATO Multinational Brigade in the region. Lt.-Gen. Steve Boivin, commander of Canadian Joint Operations Command, provided details about the ongoing situation.

Boivin noted that Latvian police are leading the investigation, with assistance from the Canadian Forces Military Police and the NATO Multinational Brigade. He emphasized that search operations are being conducted actively, utilizing all available resources.

Additionally, Boivin mentioned that Hohl’s next of kin have been notified and are receiving support during this difficult time. The investigation remains a priority as authorities work to locate the missing soldier.
