LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - School is back in session at the University of Kentucky and this year they have a new way students can stay stress-free.

Under the department of Student Success, the university’s Big Blue Pantry has opened up accessible food lockers.

Director of the pantry Andrew Perkins said food insecurity has been a challenge on college campuses for decades, but UK is taking steps to change that.

Since 2014, the Big Blue Pantry has supported students who may not know where their next meal is coming from.

“At UK, we believe that no student should have to go hungry or worry about where their next meal is coming from,” Perkins said. “They should be focused on their studies and their plan for success.”

Now, a new food locker system is extending that support around the clock.
