KETTLE FALLS, Wash. — A wildfire burning within the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area has prompted evacuations and forced the closure of several popular recreation sites, officials said.
According to the National Park Service, the North Gorge Campground and boat launch are closed until further notice due to the Crown Fire. The area is currently under a Level 2 evacuation notice, meaning residents and visitors should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice.
The Evans Campground — including its day-use area, group campsite and boat launch — is also closed. That location is under a Level 1 evacuation notice, which advises people to stay alert and monitor fire conditions.
