During the federal election, Prime Minister Mark Carney promised to “spend less on operations so we can invest more” into “nation-building projects”.
He also “committed to capping, not cutting, public service employment.”
How he’s going to square that circle, given that from 2015 to 2024, the size of the federal public service rose by 43% — far outstripping the 15% increase in Canada’s population between 2015 (35,606,734) and 2024 (41,012,563) — is a mystery.
