BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — The city of Belvidere is working with emergency agencies to seek a disaster declaration after storms in August caused significant damage.
The Boone County Emergency Management Agency, in collaboration with the state's agency, is conducting storm damage assessments to gather enough information to apply for federal aid.
"We're trying just to gather enough information for damage throughout the community that we can put it together with IEMA and FEMA to see if we can, apply for a disaster declaration through the president," said Mike Lowe, the assistant director for the Boone County Emergency Management Agency.
Storm damage assessment teams have been going door to door in Belvidere, marking damage from the August 16th storm.
The agencies have 30 days from the storm
