A mother expressed her anger on a community forum after her husband left their young children unsupervised while he mowed the lawn. She returned home from running an errand to find her 16-month-old baby covered in pen drawings.

The mother described her shock upon entering the house. "I walked in to find our baby in the living room COVERED in biro scribbles," she said, referring to the ballpoint pen marks on her child's face, arms, and sleepsuit. Her 8-year-old daughter had been tasked with watching the baby while their father tended to the lawn.

The mother recounted, "My husband thinks it is hilarious. I did not." She emphasized her concern about the potential dangers of leaving the children unsupervised. "I am SO angry," she wrote. "Yes, our baby is fine, but that is not the point. What if she had choked on a pen lid? What if she had fallen? An 8-year-old is a CHILD, not a babysitter."

Despite her concerns, the husband downplayed the situation, claiming she was overreacting and that it was only for 15 minutes. The mother disagreed, stating, "I think he has lost his mind."

Other users on the forum shared their opinions. Some sided with the mother, arguing that leaving an 8-year-old in charge of a baby is too risky. One user stated, "I wouldn’t leave an 8-year-old to watch a small baby, far too risky and anything can happen. I’d be livid with my husband as well!"

Conversely, some users defended the father's actions. One commenter suggested that the mother should focus on her daughter's behavior rather than blaming her husband.

The discussion highlights differing views on parenting responsibilities and the challenges of supervising young children.
