The U.S. House of Representatives voted 215–210 on Wednesday to repeal the Bureau of Land Management’s Central Yukon Resource Management Plan, a sweeping policy covering more than 13 million acres of federal land in Interior Alaska.
Supporters of the repeal say it is a critical step toward advancing major development projects, particularly the $39 billion Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas pipeline. The long-proposed project would carry North Slope natural gas more than 800 miles to Nikiski, where it could be exported to overseas markets.
