A New York man charged in June with threatening to bomb a Brookline hotel after it flew a Palestinian flag has been sentenced to a year of pre-trial probation, officials said Wednesday.

Prosecutors last week also reduced the initial charge against Daniel Freundlich, of Brooklyn, to uttering threats to kill, a misdemeanor, according to David Linton, a spokesperson for the Norfolk district attorney’s office. Freundlich, 46, was originally charged with making a bomb or hijacking threat, which is a felony.

Police previously identified Freundlich as the man who allegedly made several calls to the Iris Hotel in Coolidge Corner in April, suggesting that something would “blow up” while he was there . Freundlich pleaded not guilty to the original charge in June.
