AUSTIN (KXAN) -- State troopers seized nearly 50 pounds of methamphetamine in Austin last week.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said in a press release Thursday that the troopers found the drugs during a traffic stop on a white Ford F-350 on Monday, Aug. 25, about 9 p.m., near 5401 Bolm Road. That's near Govalle Neighborhood Park.
DPS said during the stop, troopers "observed indicators of criminal activity" and investigated further.
A DPS K-9 narcotics team helped conduct a probable cause search on the truck. Around 21,660 grams (near 48 pounds) of methamphetamine were seized from the truck.
The driver of the truck was taken into custody and charged with manufacture or delivery of a substance in penalty group 1, according to DPS.
DPS did not release the identity of the driver.
