ELYRIA, Ohio — A Lorain man was arrested Thursday afternoon after fleeing a traffic stop in Elyria and leading deputies on a pursuit that ended with the recovery of a loaded firearm, according to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they stopped a vehicle near Warden Avenue and Adams Street around 1:06 p.m. when the driver, identified as Travone Devonte Lee Edwards, took off south on Adams Street with a passenger in the back seat. Edwards later abandoned the vehicle at a residence on Cambridge Avenue and fled on foot, but was taken into custody a short time later.

While the pursuit of Edwards was taking place, Elyria City Schools announced at 1:34 p.m. that the nearby Eastern Heights Middle School and Eastern Heights Elementary School were placed in "a lockout secure sta
