PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A new report from Pew Research Center shows where the population of unauthorized immigrants, or migrants without visas, has grown most in the United States, and it isn't Oregon.
Unauthorized immigrant populations grew in 32 states from 2021 to 2023, with Florida, Texas, California and New York topping the list. According to the report, Oregon is the only state with a population of more than 100,000 unauthorized immigrants that did not see this group increase between 2021 and 2023.
Florida saw its number of unauthorized immigrants grow by 700,000 people between 2021 and 2023, according to the report. For the same period, Texas saw its population grow by 450,000, and California's increased by 425,000. In New York, it increased by 230,000.
