EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - It was a good day to be in the classroom.
Schools in Indiana are about to get a little more safe for students.
The Indiana Secured School Safety Board approved the distribution of more than $27 million to support school safety initiatives.
Evansville’s Signature School was one of the 494 receiving schools in the state, and got over 20 thousand dollars.
Lily Durcholz is the school’s Director of Marketing and Development, and she is the one that applied the school for the grant.
“It feels great, and we really appreciate the state providing this funding for us,” Durcholz stated. “Safety is the most important thing for us here at the Signature School, and so any way we can make the school and the community safer, we’d want to do that.”
