MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - The Moline Police Department has a message for thieves they say have been stealing metal from bleachers to sell for scrap.

There have been reports of people stealing metal bleachers from several athletic fields around Moline, victimizing numerous Moline-Coal Valley School District and Moline Parks and Recreation Department locations, police said. The bleachers are bolted down and used by young athletes in our community.

It was just at the beginning of the year when the City of Moline had to deal with another round of thefts at Ben Butterworth Parkway when dozens of memorial plaques were stolen.

City leaders said they just finished the replacement process for that and now they’re having to deal with another round.
