A woman was killed this morning after being struck by a vehicle as she was walking on a Makakilo road, police said.

At about 10:17 a.m., the woman was walking outside of a marked crosswalk on Palahia Street when she was hit by a vehicle driven by a 71-year-old woman, officials with the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division said.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said paramedics responded and treated the woman, estimated to be in her 60s, for multiple critical injuries.

EMS said paramedics provided “advanced life support” at the scene and on the way to an emergency room. She died at the hospital from her injuries, police said.

The driver remained at the scene, according to police, who said that neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the crash.
