DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - At the University of Minnesota Duluth’s volunteer fair, students and faculty packed 400 bags of food that will go to local nonprofits.
The event encourages students to volunteer in Duluth and creates a one stop shop for students to learn more about volunteering opportunities.
About 60 non-profit organizations hosted booths and tables Thursday providing resources and information on their volunteer needs.
Jamon Rush-Reese, a freshman at UMD, packed over 30 bags of food, filling them with items like Mac and Cheese and cups of fruit.
“I thought, why not stay for an hour or so just helping and packing as much as I could,” said Rush-Reese.
He is one of more than 100 students who packed food at the volunteer fair on Thursday.
