WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The STAAR test is being replaced with a new three-test format created by the Texas Education Agency.
This push first failed during the regular session just before the deadline, but when Abbott called everyone back for the special sessions and replacing the STAAR was on the agenda, lawmakers worked even harder to get it through in time.
House bill 8 has officially passed, removing the STAAR test, mandating 48 hour turnarounds for scores and guidelines for the TEA.
