A 63-year-old man died after he became trapped in machinery at the Lancaster Leaf Tobacco Company facility Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Apolinar Mendez Heredia, of Lancaster Township, died around 1 p.m. after first responders freed him from the machinery at the facility at 207 Pitney Road, according to the Lancaster County coroner’s office.
The cause and manner of death are still pending as the investigation continues, the coroner said.
Mendez Heredia lived around 15 minutes away from the tobacco facility.
An autopsy will be conducted, according to the report.
