HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Shortly after Sen. Tommy Tuberville announced he was setting his sights on the governor's office, Republicans from across Alabama stepped forward, saying they wanted to be the next person elected to the Senate.

One of those candidates, Jared Hudson, spent time in north Alabama this week. Hudson sat down with News 19 to discuss his reasons for running for Senate.

"For me, it's just a continuation of my service," Hudson said.

Hudson is a strong supporter of President Trump, and he applauds the job Tuberville has done in the Senate.

"With Coach Tuberville stepping away, I wanted to step in and make sure that Senator Britt had a partner, had somebody that could work alongside her to make sure that we continue to bring legacy to Alabama," said Hudson.
