LINCOLN, Neb. —
The University of Nebraska was under the spotlight Thursday, as the system's president, Dr. Jeffrey Gold, gave his first state of the university address in the Capitol Rotunda.
He focused on the many changes — good and bad — students, staff, and faculty will face in the coming year.
Odyssey to the extraordinary. That was the title Gold gave to the university speech, underscoring his optimism despite the turbulent waters higher education finds itself.
"This is a university of, by, and for the people of Nebraska," Gold said.
Gold, sharing his message in the people's house, touched on the ways NU reaches across the state from the university extension's support of agriculture in the panhandle to groundbreaking medical research in Omaha.
