PHILADELPHIA − Eagles star defensive tackle Jalen Carter was ejected from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct after the opening kickoff.

There was some down time because special teams player Ben VanSumeren was down on the turf with an injury after the opening kickoff.

Carter stepped up to Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and apparently spit on him. The referee threw a flag and ejected Carter.

Needless to say, that's a huge loss for the Eagles. Carter is a Pro Bowl player and was counted on to play about 90% of the defensive snaps.

The Eagles also had a player ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct last season when safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was kicked out of a Dec. 22, 2024 game against the Washington Commanders .
