HOUSTON - Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. left Thursday night's game at Daikin Park after three innings, due to contusions to both knees.
Per the Yankees, the injuries happened on separate plays, though only one was apparent.
Attempting to advance to second base on a ball that temporarily eluded Yanks' catcher Austin Wells, Astros ' star Jose Altuve was tagged out by Chisholm to end the third inning.
In doing so, Altuve's helmet contacted Chisholm's left leg, and Chisholm hopped around and limped off the field.
Chisholm batted in the top of the fourth, striking out swinging against Astros starter Cristian Javier, but Chisholm still had a noticeable limp as he walked back to the dugout. Expert MLB daily picks: Unique MLB betting insights only at USA TODAY
