Jazz Chisholm Jr. was forced to depart the Yankees’ series finale against the Astros after the third inning with an apparent leg injury. The team reported contusions on both knees.
Notably, Jose Altuve attempted to steal second base on a ball in the dirt with two outs in the third inning. Austin Wells’ throw and Jazz’s tag were on time for the out to end the inning, but Altuve’s helmet collided with his left knee. Chisholm was able to hobble off the field in obvious pain, and managed to take his at-bat in the fourth, but was seen indicating to the Yankees coaches that he could not continue the game. José Caballero replaced him at second base.
