JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Baker County Sheriff’s Office recently held town hall meetings in both Macclenny and Sanderson — addressing topics of concern including speeding and youth operating ATV’s and more recently — golf carts.

“Our bigger issue is the youth—children who are on them unaccompanied by adults and myself have in situations where I’ve seen issues that were very dangerous for kids,” Undersheriff Randy Crews told First Coast News .

Crews says he understands the joy of riding around in golf carts as a kid, but rules are rules.

“Youth are prohibited from operating those vehicles under certain parameters on public roadways anyway without a driver’s license—without the proper safety and gear,” Crews said.
