MANCHESTER, Conn. —
The Town of Manchester is in need of volunteers to ensure consistent maintenance of the over 50-year-old Hockanum River Trail.
The trail, a popular destination for hikers, runs through parts of East Hartford and South Windsor, but is situated mainly in Manchester.
A volunteer maintenance crew was created with the trail in the 1970s. People from that original team resigned this year, citing disagreements with town leaders.
That left about 15 miles of walking trail unmaintained. The town said it’s been a struggle to stay consistent with it.
